Outstanding Polish film posters

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Polish version of Empire strikes back posterThose images have been going around quite a bit recently but wanted show them to those of you who haven’t seen them: Andrew Lindstrom has posted the most amazing selection of Polish film posters on his blog which you must not miss. From what I understand those are the actual posters promoting the movies something which I first found difficult to believe.

Those artist interpretations really make me want to watch some of those movies again: Son Of Godzilla would normally not be on the top of my ‘to watch’ list. I’m also not the type to put up film posters in my flat but now I will certainly keep an eye on eBay for those.

Esquire’s cover features e-ink

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

I guess we can all see where this is going: Esquire’s October issue features a flashing e-ink display on the front page. It might not me the most sophisticated ‘digital cover’ but it surly shows us where things are heading in regards to magazines/newspaper and printing information on paper. I just don’t see any value in paper any more and I really believe that it will be replaced by something like the below, although it might take a while for e-ink to compete with paper in regards to costs.

I’ve just moved house and having lots of ‘data carriers’ (books/CD/records) to move around is not just inconvenient but could also become an obstacle if I want to move abroad. I’m working on a solution for all my CDs and we just gave all the books we will definitely not read any more to Oxfam.

OpenMusicMedia Meet – Sounds/Clouds

Friday, September 5th, 2008

Sounds and CloudsThis time with slightly short notice: If you are in London next Wednesday (10th September) come down to our OpenMusicMedia Meet at the William IV in East London. This time Eric Wahlforss from SoundCloud will join us for what will certainly be a lively debate.

This is a quote from his recent blog post and will explain what we will be talking about:

“The Web is a giant copying machine. And yet, if people can avoid having to copy something, they will. The problem is that today, the music industry suffers quite a bit from illegal file sharing–a giant copy party. What is going to happen over the coming years is that this copy fest will wind down.

(…) The key, being a music service or a label or an artist in this world of link-passing, is to own the most relevant copy. With most relevant I mean the most happening copy, the most accessible copy, the most usable copy, the coolest copy, the earliest copy, the most exclusive copy, the copy with the best sound quality, the most permanent copy, the most social copy, the most remixed copy, the most authentic copy, the most interoperable copy, etc.”

Please find all details here and looking forward to seeing you next week!
