If you haven’t already, you have to check out Bon Iver. I saw him at SXSW and he’s been in my iPod ever since. He actually singed a deal with 4AD for ex-US recently.

My two new discoveries: The Accidental and The Slaughtered Lamb

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

image003.jpg

I went to a gig last week to see the first live performance of the band The Accidental. I was highly impressed and maybe even surprised; they sound a lot like Tunng and they even they share one band member (Sam Genders) but I have to say that I probably prefered this to any Tunng performance I have seen.

It was also the first time that I went to the Slaughtered Lamb and I have to say: what a great place! Didn’t think I would find anything like it just of Clerkenwell Road. Lovely people, lots of sofas even decent sound in the downstairs music venue. Will be back there for sure…

You have to check him out: Mugison

Monday, February 11th, 2008

I’ve always been a big fan of Mugison and I was very disappointed when he canceled his gig a few months ago in London. But when I was standing around at Midem a few weeks ago waiting for my next meeting I thought I heard a song that sounded familiar; turns out he was playing a few song at the Icelandic Stand just a few steps away.

Anyway he’s got a new album called ‘Mugiboogie’ (which you can order here). Well it’s not actually quite new but it hasn’t been released outside of Iceland so it’s going to be new for most of us. Beautiful video too:
